The Sentry opens volunteer registration for 2025 event

Kapalua, Maui, Hawai‘i – The Sentry announced today volunteer registration is now open for the 2025 event. Volunteering offers a variety of opportunities to get involved with PGA TOUR’s Opening Drive event when it returns to The Plantation Course at Kapalua from January 2-5, 2025.

The Sentry volunteers help organize, coordinate, and manage the event in various capacities through the devotion of time, talent, and passion. For the last 26 years, this iconic Maui event has served as one of the premier marketing vehicles for the state, showcasing the beauty of The Islands via 70-plus hours of television coverage across the globe to millions of viewers.

The dedication of volunteers allows The Sentry to donate back to the community which has graciously hosted the tournament since 1999. The Sentry alongside volunteers, sponsors, resort and community partners, and fans, has provided significant community impact for the Valley Isle’s non-profit charities and raised more then $9 million for the Maui community.

“Our volunteers are integral to the success and on-site experience at The Sentry,” said Max Novena, Executive Director of The Sentry. “We’re thankful for our volunteers’ commitment to the tournament experience, especially as we remain focused on serving the community and supporting the people of Lahaina and Maui as they recover and rebuild.”

There are various committees for prospective volunteers to join, including ShotLink (includes both walking scorer and mobile spotter), On-Course Transportation, Gallery Management, Hospitality, Admissions, and Supply & Product Distribution.

For 2025, volunteers working three or more shifts will receive two golf shirts, a hat or visor, a commemorative tournament pin, and access to Volunteer Headquarters, where catered food and beverage options are available during the week. The Volunteer Appreciation Party returns featuring entertainment, food, drinks, and prizes. In addition to volunteer credentials allowing free admission when not on volunteer shift, The Sentry will provide one additional grounds ticket (Thursday-Sunday) for friends or family to enjoy the tournament.
