Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii – The 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions today announced past champions Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas will return to the star-studded event on Maui from January 4-8 at The Plantation Course at Kapalua.

Xander Schauffele

Schauffele secured his sixth trip to the Sentry Tournament of Champions following his victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside teammate Patrick Cantlay as they became the first team to win in wire-to-wire fashion and set the 72-hole scoring record at TPC Louisiana with a 259. The 29-year-old picked up two more victories during the calendar year at the Travelers Championship in June and the Genesis Scottish Open in July to go along with five additional top-10 finishes. In addition to his 2019 victory at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, where he carded a final-round 62 to overcome a five-stroke deficit, Schauffele finished T22 in 2018, T2 in 2020, T5 in 2021 and 12th in 2022.

Jordan Spieth

Spieth, the 2016 Sentry Tournament of Champions winner, claimed his 13th career TOUR title in his 226th start when he defeated Cantlay in a playoff at the RBC Heritage in April for his first victory in more than a year. Over the course of 2022, the Dallas native earned 10 top-25 finishes, including two runners-up (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, AT&T Byron Nelson). The 2023 event marks Spieth’s sixth appearance at The Plantation Course at Kapalua where he owns four top-10 finishes in five appearances (2/2014; Won/2016; T3/2017; 9/2018; T21/2022).

Justin Thomas

Two-time Sentry Tournament of Champions winner Thomas (2017, 2020) won once on TOUR in 2022, but it marked his second career major championship title after defeating Will Zalatoris in a three-hole aggregate playoff to win the PGA Championship for the second time (2017) and earn his 15th career TOUR victory. The Kentucky native has won in seven consecutive seasons on TOUR and became the sixth player since World War II with 15 TOUR wins (including two majors) before the age of 30, joining Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Tom Watson, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The 29-year-old makes his eighth trip to Maui and the Sentry Tournament of Champions where he holds five top-10 finishes (T21/2016; Won/2017; T22/2018; 3/2019; Won/2020; 2/2021; T5/2022). With a third-round 61 in 2022, Thomas now shares the record for the best 18-hole score at The Plantation Course at Kapalua.

A total of 40 players have qualified for the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Thirty have qualified via their PGA TOUR victories while 10 earned their way by finishing in the top 30 of the final FedExCup standings in August. A full list of qualifiers can be found at SentryTournamentOfChampions.com.
