Kisner, McDowell latest winners to qualify for the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions on Maui

Winners-only field taking shape as PGA TOUR Season continues

Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii – With their recent PGA TOUR victories, Kevin Kisner and Graeme McDowell became the latest players to qualify for the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions. A win is the only way to qualify for this champions-only event, and with one-third of the season completed, Kisner and McDowell have qualified to join the other 13 PGA TOUR winners this season in paradise when the Sentry Tournament of Champion returns to The Plantation Course at Kapalua in January.

World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play

Making his fourth start at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, Kevin Kisner captured his third career PGA TOUR victory and first World Golf Championships title. After losing his opening match to No. 30 Ian Poulter (2-up), Kisner—the 48th seed in the 64-man field—went on to defeat No. 14 Tony Finau (2-up), Keith Mitchell (2 and 1), No. 36 HaoTong Li (6 and 5), No. 19 Louis Oosthuizen (2 and 1) and No. 7 Francesco Molinari (1-up) to advance to the Championship Match.

The 35-year-old beat No. 23 Matt Kuchar (3 and 2) to become the first player in tournament history to lose his first match and then go on to win. He also becomes the first runner-up of the event to come back and win the following season. With the victory, Kisner secures the opportunity to return to the Sentry Tournament of Champions and looks to improve upon a career-best ninth place finish in 2016.

Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship

Graeme McDowell returns to the winner’s circle for the first time in three years with his victory at Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. McDowell shot a 3-under 69 in Sunday’s final round to win by one stroke over Chris Stroud and Mackenzie Hughes and become the 12th player this season to convert a 54-hole lead into a victory. With his fourth career PGA TOUR victory, the 39-year-old qualifies to return to The Plantation Course at Kapalua and make his third appearance at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, as he looks to improve upon a career-best, third-place finish in 2011.

Currently, 15 players have qualified for the Sentry Tournament of Champions courtesy of their PGA TOUR victories this calendar year, including three first-timers (Adam Long, Martin Trainer and Keith Mitchell). Seven of the top-15 in the Official World Golf Rankings – World No. 1 Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele and Paul Casey – are all qualified after recording victories on the PGA TOUR this calendar year.

The winners-only Sentry Tournament of Champions returns for its 22nd year on Maui and offers a variety of opportunities to get involved and up close with some of the game’s biggest stars that have qualified for the event, such as defending champion Xander Schauffele, reigning FedExCup champion Justin Rose and current World No. 1 Dustin Johnson.

The first PGA TOUR event of the calendar year, the Sentry Tournament of Champions is the only event on the schedule that features all winners from the previous calendar year. A variety of ticket packages will go on sale in the coming months at sentrytournamentofchampions.com. Fans are reminded that each year, youth 18 and younger are admitted free of charge to the tournament when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
